The commission was proposed by members of two families who shared a batch narrow and deep in Colegiales, an area of the city of Buenos Aires comes from changing its appearance as a result of the significant amount of multi-family housing built in recent years, but still keeps some characteristics of the neighborhood. The principals established in both the program data uses and cost maximums for each property as the location of each of the units in the lot: one to the front and one on the back, both with patio and swimming pool.
The materiality and the formalization required was coincident with what is defined in several homes built by the studio: simple volumes of exposed concrete, low maintenance and at the time, with openings generous to facilitate a relationship interior exterior very smooth.
Another one of the requirements was the need for the set appeared to be sufficiently closed to the public right of way as to ensure the safety of both houses. In addition, the project of the ground floor was intended to allow the parking of not less than four cars.
The proposal was defined with the decision to release the ground floor of the first unit to allow passage of fluid to the fund unit and get the parking spaces required.
From this decision, we project a set is composed of two houses that achieved independence from the location in the plant and in the court of their backyards.
Each housing is resolved within a compact volume of two plants to release the largest amount of land possible. The main areas are oriented to the bottom looking for the north and the service spaces are resolved to the facade (in the case of the unit from the front) getting the tightness required in respect of the street and, in the unity of the background, to the open space generated between the two volumes constructed.
The mass built that determines each unit is perforated, so that it is defined a small internal courtyard that brings double ventilation and lighting effects to all environments, introducing the vegetation in the interior of the house.
