The place
The field of 20m x 30m located in the forest of Mar Azul presents the particularity of a slope very important in respect of the two streets it faces, and while this situation complicates the resolution of the access to the property, offers the advantage that if the home sits high, there is very little exposed to the looks from the street but from the inside you can get views to the landscape above the neighboring buildings. This difference in level is more or less soft to the bottom of the batch but it's very steep to the front opposite and it is in this area where there is also a racket in the forest.
The order
The order of the customer was a three-bedroom house that does not exceed the 120m2, intended to be used not only in summer but also in various opportunities throughout the year. In particular pointed to the need for the master bedroom off of generously sized, it had a private bathroom and enjoy some independence from the rest of the house. The other two bedrooms could share a general bathroom and to have the minimum surface area so that you can give to the social area of the greater amount of space available. The kitchen (a very important space for the client) should be fully integrated to this area and was especially highlighted the need for generous expansions in the open air. It also required a deposit to saving different items to make sport at the beach. With regard to the formal requirements, although they asked for a concrete house is an aesthetic proposal and constructive similar to the other homes built by the studio in the Blue Sea, this order was granted permission to try it with some search particularizara experience.
The proposal
In the permission of the principal as expressed in the phrase “may jeopardize proposing a variation to the houses built”, and in the particularity of the lot and the required program, lies the uniqueness of this home. The search of formal variants was not an easy task since it did not imply a change of technology nor any conception of spatiality (that left more than clear in the first conversations), but it was to make some kind of new input without to renounce to those premises. The proposal could have been to try new textures of the concrete even with the addition of pigments, but all of these procedures seemed contradictory stance austere, not aesthetics of the architecture. The solution emerged coincidentally by noting that in the process of production of works of concrete is a surplus very important tables of wood used to make the formwork. It seemed so interesting, and also conducive for the purpose of taking advantage of all available resources, reuse those tables in the execution of some walls of wood. It is so, and departed to think of the project by replacing some walls exterior and interior concrete walls of tables and wood structure. In connection with the volumetry of the house was resolved as two prisms, a different height and perpendicular to each other, united by the ladder that bridges that gap, and located among pine trees in the highest part of the lot. In the volume parallel to the direction of the slope were the activities of the meeting of the family group over the two small bedrooms with one side half buried and the other in a situation of a balcony. The volume perpendicular to the slope, enjoys the proximity of the foliage of the pine trees that rise in the terrain and he was the master bedroom with its own bathroom and terrace.
